Anniversaries are commemorated because they mark the passage of time – an important occasion to reinforce focus and regain momentum. Anniversaries are also a possibility to plant another milestone – which explains Audemars Piguet’s decision to create an exclusive Royal Oak Piece Unique on the watch series’ 40th Anniversary.
The Royal Oak Skeleton Piece Unique, which will be auctioned in Singapore for charity, was specifically designed in memory of the late Duncan Wang – a genuine haute horlogerie aficionado and a committed altruist. The auction, to be held at Ritz Carlton Ballroom on 1st September, will benefit Kidz Horizon Appeal – a charitable organization that attends specifically to children suffering from chronic or terminal illnesses.

Devoted to the pioneer spirit of the Royal Oak, and true to Duncan Wang’s penchant for distinctive timepieces, the one of a kind “Duncan Watch” is another accomplishment in material innovation. The 41mm Piece Unique features a cermet bezel and titanium casing, thus setting itself apart from the regular 39mm stainless steel Royal Oak Skeleton. The exclusive watch, which will wrap its lucky winner’s wrist in grey crocodile straps, also includes the engraving “SINGAPORE 2012 PIECE UNIQUE” on its back case.
Audemars Piguet has transformed its 40th Anniversary of the Royal Oak into a momentous opportunity that not only perpetuates its stylistic ingenuity but also honours a dear friend’s compassion – may this avant-garde initiative become as iconic as the Royal Oak.
