Last week Gieves & Hawkes held a drinks evening to celebrate the upcoming Olympics in London, by exhibiting the work of photographer Gideon Hart. Hart's series of photographs showed the Coldstream Guards performing a range of sports, including football and synchronised swimming.

But the evening was also an opportunity for various members of the press to meet Gieves's new owners. The Savile Row tailor was bought by its Chinese licensee, Trinity, in April for an initial £32.5 million. Trinity is part of the Li Fung group - the largest supplier in the world to luxury brands. The sale follows the transfer in ownership of several iconic British retail brands, including Jaeger and Aquascutum. The latter was also bought by its Asia licensee, though in that case out of administration.
